The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2014 Initiative Scholarship was presented to Rhinelander High School (RHS) senior Destiny Baitinger, and the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2014 Fellowship Award was presented to Karie Blemke, teacher at James Williams Middle School (JWMS) at a recognition luncheon hosted by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl on April 6, 2014.

The Herb Kohl Initiative Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated a high level of motivation, have shown strong promise for achieving success in college and beyond, and have overcome significant personal obstacles or adversity. In 2014 the Herb Kohl Foundation awarded 87 students throughout Wisconsin with $1000.00 Initiative Scholarships.

The Herb Kohl Fellowship recognizes teachers who have demonstrated superior ability to inspire love of learning in their students, have motivated others, and have provided meritorious service both inside and outside the classroom. Each year the Herb Kohl Foundation awards 100 teachers throughout Wisconsin with $1000.00 Fellowships, and an additional $1,000.00 grant is awarded to each Fellow's school for use in innovative educational projects. Since it was established in 1990, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has awarded $8.6 million to Wisconsin students, teachers, and schools.
