January 13, 2014
Several Northwoods companies were recognized by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for expansion projects last year.
Overall, the top 10 list of projects represent a total capital investment of more than $700 million, and are expected to result in more than 4,400 jobs being created or retained in Wisconsin.
This includes the new Printpack facility in Rhinelander. The WEDC provided a $1.7 million loan, along with additional tax credits. The estimated project value was at nearly $72 million and is expected to retain 138 jobs.
Mullins in Mosinee appeared on the list twice for both their cheese facility and their whey facility. The operation upgraded both facilities. The project impact includes 51 jobs created in the cheese plant, and 10 in the whey plant.
Of course the number one project for the state was the announcement of a new Amazon.com facility in Kenosha which will create more than 1,000 jobs.
