RHINELANDER, WI – Clerk Valerie Foley today announced changes in the City of Rhinelander’s polling places for the April 7 election due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
“Unfortunately, some building owners are unable to host polling places for this election,” said Clerk Foley. “We apologize for the late change, but we are taking steps to notify everyone by press release, newspaper, & City website of the new location.”
These polling places have changed:
◼ Oneida County Aging & Disability Resource Center, 100 W. Keenan St., Rhinelander, has been moved to Rhinelander High School gymnasium, 665 Coolidge Ave, Rhinelander.
◼ Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, 2000 E. Winnebago St., Rhinelander, has been moved to Rhinelander High School gymnasium, 665 Coolidge Ave, Rhinelander.
Even though the polling place will be open on election day, Clerk Foley urged voters in the City of Rhinelander to avoid polling places and vote absentee by mail instead, if possible.
“We want everyone who is eligible and who wants to vote to be able to do so safely,” Foley said. “Absentee voting will greatly reduce crowds at polling places on Election Day, which will make social distancing much easier.”
Voters can also drop off absentee ballots at the polling place.
