Collette Sorgel stands at the forefront of community development and economic growth in Oneida County, representing District #13 for Three Lakes on the Oneida County Board. Her multifaceted role extends far beyond policymaking. As a member of several influential committees including Conservation and UW-EX Education, Forestry Land and Recreation, and the Thunder Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District, Collette actively shapes the landscape of our local environment and economy. Her pivotal position on the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) Board is a testament to her commitment and expertise in driving the county’s economic aspirations.

Empowering Economic Growth

Collette’s broad involvement encompasses significant leadership roles, such as her work as the Tourism Director for Vilas County, and her tenure as the Past Executive Director for the Three Lakes Chamber. She thrives in her roles as President of the Three Lakes Center for the Arts and Vice President of the Three Lakes Women’s Club, demonstrating a deep connection to the cultural and societal pillars of our community. 

Her strategic vision for Oneida County extends into practical engagement through her chairmanship on various planning and natural resource committees. These platforms have enabled Collette to advocate for and implement projects focused on Leadership, Housing, and Broadband improvements—essential components for a thriving community.

Champion of Community Engagement

Collette’s impact resonates through her vast community involvement. From her early days filling a term at the Three Lakes School to her continuous commitment to the Three Lakes Lions Club, she embodies the spirit of service. Her dedication has led to tangible benefits for the community, such as improved vision screening in schools and the successful coordination of cherished local events like the 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and Parade.

Her volunteer work as a cashier at St. Theresa’s Thrift Shop and her active participation in the Red Suspenders and Lewis & Clark Heritage Foundation showcase her belief in giving back and preserving valuable histories and traditions for future generations.

Living a Life of Adventure and Service

Outside her structured roles, Collette and her husband Dave contribute to the artistic fabric of Oneida County through their Fine Arts Gallery, enriching the community’s cultural landscape. Her passion for adventure, travel, and active involvement in nature embodies the Northwoods spirit—inspiring others to explore, appreciate, and protect our beautiful surroundings. Her life’s motto, “Live Small. Travel Large,” reflects a philosophy of embracing experiences over possessions, a principle that informs her approach to community engagement and development.
